Baby Steps

Everyhing in life takes patience and determination...
Yesterday we celebrated Jordan Grace's 2nd birthday.  We had some friends over and had a grand time...she is such a social butterfly, LOVES attention, but most of all she loves engaging with anyone who will give her the time of day.
She is so loving and so tender.
Her celebration was also a great time to show her skills, she was taking steps and then would look around expecting applause.  We kind of raised her like that.  We applaud everything she does, each single milestone.  We have done that from the start of our parenthood.  Greg and I have always encouraged our girls to try and try again.
So, our baby girl is no different, we praise and praise and she expects it and loves it.  Our pride and excitment drives her to keep going and keep trying.
To say we are so incredibly proud of her would be a total understatement.  Here's a picture for proof...wish you could have seen her daddy's face as he was taking the video of this still picture.

Determination

Talk about never giving up! We try to teach our children about determination, dedication, patience, and practice makes perfect!

I'm not trying to teach perfection at all, just want my girls to always try their best even if they don't win, if they don't reach, I want them to try and try again.

This little lady was born with all of those things and more. She can spend endless amount of time trying until she achieves what she wants to achieve, she is in many ways stubborn to make it happen! Whether it's dumping all the flash cards on the floor on purpose and trying to put them all back inside the box no matter how long it takes.

Jordan Grace has a thing for socks, she takes them off constantly, so I chase her around the house trying to put them back on. It doesn't matter if she has shoes on or not, shoes and socks come off all day long. I'm not sure if it's a game to her or if her little brain is working to figure out things, because she's always focusing on the logistic of things.

In the end, she's teaching me that she has all those amazing qualities in life to succeed. She knows mommy needs comfort in knowing, she can do it!

Why I'm a lucky mama

I have two sweet girls who bring me joy each day. Around this house there's a lot of dancing and singing, it's been that way since our first born could make sounds.

Our girls are more alike than we thought possible. Sure there's some differences.

Ana Maria had different milestones like walking at nine months, writing and reading before preschool among other things.

Jordan Grace picked herself up to a sitting position holding on to my hands on day two, she rolled to her back at six weeks, she said her first word "Hi" pretty early on.

I can go on forever about their achievements. Instead of comparing them, I love watching each one grow into their own.

Their similarities are endless, they love baths, playing, coloring, discovering, they are loving, caring and happy. They adore each other! But their number one common ground is singing.

They both bring me happiness each day through song. Here's a favorite video of ours of Ana Maria singing Hail Mary while playing church when she was about four. And today, on cleaning day, Jordan Grace serenaded me with La La La.

Reading...

Baby girl marches to the beat of her sweet little heart. She's silly and funny and doesn't even know it, until she watched us laugh she knows whatever she did was clever and will do it again. Or she will clap so that we all clap for her and her cleverness.

Jordan Grace is one funny 2 year old. Can't believe she's two already! These past two years have really been the most simple, yet exciting, filled with fears and courage, lots and lots of laughter, mostly tears of joy, only worry tears when she had her heart surgery, many firsts, and definitely lots of learning for all of us.

She definitely keeps us entertained reading and dancing, and just being sweet Jordan Grace!

Loving life

Our sweet ballerina makes us smile. Sharing the love!

Watch our sweet ballerian dancing around here.

Ash Wednesday

We celebrated at Ana Maria's school this morning.

Today marks the beginning of a better me, is how I see it. I'm determined this year to make it a year of accomplishments.

A year of a better me, of helping others and showing the ones I love how much I love and appreciate them.

Though my friend and I shook on giving up ice Capps for 40 days, I will honor this promise, but I also want to do something for others and for myself.

40 days to a new me, a better version of myself!

She shows us

See, all things are possible, they truly are. Our Jordan Grace shows us each day her little brain is working just as it should.

Therapist spend lots of time working on her motor skills, but honestly, I'm not worried about her one bit. They always leave so happy with what she shows them she can do! I'm so proud of this little one!!!

She CAN!

Our baby girl has been showing us throughout her almost two years of life, what she is capable of doing. Around this house we have learned to never limit our girls. They can do all things and we not only encourage it, we praise them as they achieve. We truly believe in them both and know they are on this earth to live, laugh and learn and of course LOVE.

At six weeks old our sweet girl shocked us by rolling from her tummy to her back. I was changing her clothes and as I was taking her onesie off, she turned over. I couldn't believe it, after all, the professionals were quick to tell me she would  be delayed and not to expect much. Boy, were they wrong about my girl! Watch her in action here!

One of my main purposes for this blog is to show mamas like me that anything is possible, and each child is different in their own way. Our precious ones with Down Syndrome are no different. Our little one shows us in creative ways what she wants to achieve and just goes for it. No matter what it is.

I hope our baby inspires and gives others not only hope but the peace of mind knowing that our children can do all things if we just believe in them.

The latest is climbing on toys to get up on the couch.

I've learned to let her explore and figure things out on her own as I watch close.
